Nigel Adkins: 'Hull City were really poor'

Hull City boss Nigel Adkins admits that the three goals that his side shipped to Aston Villa on Tuesday evening were "really poor".

Hull City boss Nigel Adkins has admitted that the three goals that his side shipped to Aston Villa on Tuesday evening were "really poor".

The Tigers took the lead at the KCOM after just seven minutes, but Villa levelled before the break and went on to seal victory with two second-half goals.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Adkins said that he was "disappointed" with his team's overall performance.

"The three goals were really poor," the manager said. "We did start the game very well, on the front foot as we wanted. It was a great goal from Evandro and thoroughly what we deserved.

"Unfortunately you can't really prepare yourself for the couple of poor goals that we've given away in close succession to put Villa in a good position to go and win the game.

"The atmosphere in the stadium was good but obviously we're all disappointed now with the result that has gone and happened."

Hull's next game is against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
