AC Milan are reportedly contemplating a swap deal with Liverpool involving Thiago Alcantara and Franck Kessie.
Kessie's existing deal at San Siro is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and the midfielder has so far rebuffed the Rossoneri's attempts to tie him down to a new contract.
As a result, Stefano Pioli's side are running the risk of losing Kessie on a free transfer next summer, as the Ivory Coast international can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs elsewhere from January.
According to Il Milanista, Milan directors Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini are aiming to avoid losing Kessie on a free by striking a swap deal with Liverpool involving Thiago.
The former Bayern Munich man found it difficult to show his best form during his debut campaign at Anfield, registering a solitary goal in 30 appearances across all competitions last term.
Liverpool and Milan will renew hostilities on Wednesday in Champions League Group B - the first meeting between the two clubs since the 2007 final of Europe's elite tournament.
