Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's latest offer for Manchester United, thought to be around £5bn, allegedly remains on the table.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani's offer for Manchester United reportedly remains on the table, with the Qatari still determined to win the takeover race.

Almost one year has passed since the Glazer family revealed that they were open to entering into discussions over a potential sale of the 20-time English champions.

There are currently two main candidates to complete a takeover in the shape of Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, although there remains huge uncertainty when it comes to the plans of the current owners.

A split is said to exist within the Glazer family in terms of the best course of action, and there have been reports in recent weeks that Man United could soon be taken off the market.

Ratcliffe is allegedly considering making an offer for a minority stake in Man United, which would keep the Glazers in majority control.

The British billionaire could allegedly make a bid to purchase around 25% of the club, with a view to completing a full takeover in the coming years.

However, Sheikh Jassim is only interested in an immediate 100% takeover, with the Qatari also making it clear that he would be willing to commit significant funds to improving Old Trafford and also the club's training ground.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Sheikh Jassim's latest offer, which is said to be around £5bn, remains on the table.

The report claims that the Qatari is still waiting for a response, although it is unclear whether he would be willing to increase the bid if the Glazers clearly stated their asking price.

There have been suggestions that the Glazers, as it stands, value the club at £6bn but believe that a £10bn sale is not out of the question in the near future.

A takeover was initially expected to be completed in April, or by the opening of the summer transfer window, but the Glazers remain in charge.

There have again been protests against the American owners from large numbers of Man United supporters in the early stages of the 2023-24 campaign.

The Red Devils have struggled in the opening months of the new season, meanwhile, losing six of their opening 10 matches in all competitions, including their last two at home to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in the Premier League and Champions League respectively.
