PSV Eindhoven recorded a sixth straight home league win on Wednesday, beating NEC Nijmegen in a thrilling 3-2 contest.
Roger Schmidt's men raced to a three-goal lead thanks to strikes from Ritsu Doan, Erick Gutierrez and Eran Zahavi before Mikkel Duelund and Jonathan Okita reduced the deficit to set up a thrilling end to the game.
However, the Rood-witten saw their title hopes put to the sword as Ajax claimed a 5-0 victory over Heerenveen to be crowned league champions for a 36th time.
Nonetheless, it has been a wonderful season for PSV, who will now be looking to sign off in style against an opposing side yet to avoid defeat in any of the last 14 meetings between the teams dating back to 2015.
Unbeaten in their last 13 games on the road across all competitions, Sunday's visitors have established themselves as a huge force to be reckoned with away from home.
Zwolle fell to a 2-0 defeat against fellow strugglers Sparta Rotterdam in a crucial relegation six-pointer at the Het Kasteel on Wednesday.
First-half goals from Adil Auassar and then Vito van Crooy condemned Dick Schreuder's men to a damaging loss.
Consequently, the Blauwvingers have been relegated from the Dutch top-flight after 10 consecutive seasons amongst the elite.
Currently with the joint-worst home record in the entire division, Sunday's hosts will be looking to round off what has been an otherwise turbulent season on a positive note.
