Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Valencia

Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's La Liga showdown with Valencia.

Barcelona were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw last time out against Osasuna and the reigning champions will look to get their latest La Liga title tilt back on track when they host Valencia on Saturday.

Substitutes Ansu Fati and Arthur came off the bench and scored to spare Barca's blushes, but the Catalan giants have now won just one of their opening three league games.

Valencia have also amassed four points so far and earned their first win of the season last time out against Mallorca, winning 2-0 at home.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the fixture on Saturday.

Luis Suarez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Villarreal)

The striker was forced off in the first half of Barca's opening La Liga game and is not expected to return until closer to the end of the month.

Lionel Messi

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Valencia)

Messi did not make the bench in the draw against Osasuna, with Ernesto Valverde opting to give his star forward the international break to recover as much as possible and he could hand his side a huge boost by returning for their next game, either as a starter or from the bench.

Neto

Status: Out
Type of injury: Wrist
Possible return date: Unknown

Marc-Andre ter Stegen's deputy will miss out on the squad when his former side visit the Camp Nou and will likely not return for another month.

Ousmane Dembele

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Getafe)

Dembele is still recovering from a hamstring injury and is expected to be available again in about three weeks, shortly after the expected return of Suarez.

Junior Firpo

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 14 (vs. Valencia)

The left-back missed the draw with Osasuna but has returned to training over the international break and signs are positive that he will be available for the clash with Valencia.

Samuel Umtiti

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

The central defender was forced to withdraw from the France squad ahead of their clash with Andorra after suffering a foot injury and does not seem likely to be fit in time to face Valencia.

Nelson Semedo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

The right-back was forced off the field after a strong challenge from Aleksandar Kolarov and, while the injury initially looked severe, recent reports indicate it may not be as bad as first thought.
