Levante beat Almeria to climb out of La Liga drop zone

Levante win their first home game of the La Liga season against Almeria to climb out of the bottom three.

Goals either side of half time from David Barral and Victor Casadesus against Almeria have given Levante their first home win of the season in La Liga and moved them out of the relegation zone.

Levante, who had lost all four of their previous home games without scoring, took the lead midway through the first half when Barral worked a yard of space in the area with a step-over and fired past Almeria keeper Ruben high into the net.

Almeria equalised in the 70th minute through Jonathan Zongo, who arrived at the back post to plant a diving header home from Tomer Hemed's corner.

They were only on level terms for five minutes, though, as Casadesus restored Levante's lead by reacting fastest after Jaime Gavilan's free kick had come back off the post.

Wellington had a golden chance to snatch a point for Almeria in added time, but he could only slide the ball wide from close range.

Three points sees Levante rise three places to 17th and they are now just a point behind Almeria in 14th.
