Report: Gareth Bale to see out remainder of Real Madrid contract

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale will reportedly sit tight and leave the La Liga giants as a free agent in 2022, despite being out of favour in the Spanish capital.

Gareth Bale intends to see out the remaining two-and-a-half years of his Real Madrid contract, according to a report.

The Wales international was close to leaving Madrid last summer for Jiangsu Suning and the Spanish club are believed to still be hopeful of finding him a new club.

The Mirror suggests that Bale will instead sit tight at the Santiago Bernabeu and run down his contract, however, allowing him to depart as a free agent in 2022.

Premier League sides Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the 30-year-old, who has struggled to hold down a place in Zinedine Zidane's starting lineup this season.

Bale missed Madrid's recent Supercopa de Espana semi-final and final wins over Valencia and Atletico Madrid respectively and was also absent from the squad for Saturday's league victory against Sevilla.
