Hans-Joachim Watzke: 'Robert Lewandowski can go abroad'

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says that Robert Lewandowski is available for foreign clubs but not for much longer.

Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has said that time is running out for foreign clubs to lodge a bid for Robert Lewandowski.

The 24-year-old, who has one year left on his current contract, is believed to have his heart set on a move to Bayern Munich, although Die Borussen have ruled out any possibility of selling him to their German rivals.

Watzke has said that despite a move to Bavaria being out of the question, the Polish striker is available for the right price to clubs outside of Germany.

However, with plans for next season already in the works, any potential transfer will have to happen soon.

"There has been no general change on this, but the proposed time window for interested foreign clubs is not open for much longer" he told Ruhr Nachrichten "It is a fact we need a severe certainty for our season plan.

"Robert Lewandowski has insisted on his wish to join Bayern Munich, therefore there is no real issue on him moving abroad.

"Borussia Dortmund has not handed any written allowance to Robert Lewandowski on a move to Bayern Munich. There is zero official correspondence existing."

Lewandowski scored 24 goals in the Bundesliga last season.
