Preview: Burton Albion vs. Stevenage - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Burton Albion and Stevenage, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Burton Albion will be looking to get their first win of the season on the board when they play host to Stevenage in League One on Saturday afternoon.

While the home side sit in 17th position in the standings, Stevenage make the trip to the Pirelli Stadium in 16th place.

Given the upheaval in all areas of the club over the summer, it is perhaps no surprise that Burton are yet to settle during the opening weeks of the campaign.

Conceding seven goals in defeats to Lincoln City and Blackpool in the third tier and EFL Cup respectively was far from the ideal start, but there are signs that Mark Robinson's side are getting back on track.

A 3-3 draw away at a Mansfield Town outfit that had won at Barnsley in their opening fixture should be deemed a positive result, despite conceding a late equaliser at Field Mill.

Burton then recorded a confidence-boosting 3-1 triumph over Leicester City Under-21s in the EFL Trophy, netting all three goals in the final 22 minutes.

The Brewers now need to convert that form into league action as they bid to keep their first shutout of the season.

Stevenage are going through a similar period of adjustment under Alex Revell, who has been given the job on a permanent basis after ending his brief stint in interim charge with four points from two games.

Revell delivered a 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on the opening weekend, that result coming ahead of testing away fixtures at Norwich City in the EFL Cup and one of the League One title favourites in Huddersfield Town.

Although Stevenage went down 4-3 and 2-1 respectively, enough positives came from those performances to leave the squad in a confident mood ahead of this fixture.

A 1-0 success was also posted at home to Crystal Palace Under-21s in the EFL Trophy, leaving the onus on Revell to try to guide Stevenage to a first competitive away win since January 27.

Team News

Having rung the changes for the Leicester game in midweek, Robinson should revert back to much of the Burton XI from the Mansfield draw.

Even having scored against the young Foxes, Mason Bennett may drop back down to the substitutes' bench for this fixture.

Billy Bodin was rested for the previous game on the back of his two-goal showing at Field Mill and will replace Bennett.

Revell also made widespread alterations to his Stevenage side for the win over Palace, but Tyreece Simpson should keep his spot after getting on the scoresheet.

Harvey White is pushing for a return in central midfield, potentially as a replacement for Louis Thompson.

Burton Albion possible starting lineup:
Crocombe; Godwin-Malife, Vancooten, Armer; Akoto, Chauke, Watt, Kalinauskas; Whitfield, Bodin; Orsi

Stevenage possible starting lineup:
Cooper; Sweeney, Goode, Piergianni; Wildin, Phillips, Thompson, Butler; Roberts, Simpson, List

We say: Burton Albion 1-1 Stevenage

Although Burton have been leaky in defence, they deserve credit for their draw at Mansfield. With that in mind, we are backing another stalemate here, albeit with fewer goals.
