Chelsea striker Fernando Torres believes that Liverpool "need" to beat the Blues this weekend in order to revive their season.

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres believes that Liverpool have to get a victory over his side this Sunday in order to build up their confidence.

The 28-year-old, who made the controversial move from Anfield to Stamford Bridge in 2011 for £50m, has revealed that he has spoken to Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina ahead of the highly anticipated clash.

"They are really looking forward to the game because they need points, they need to win these kinds of big games to get confidence," London24 quotes Torres as saying. "But we also need them so hopefully the three points can stay at Stamford Bridge."

The Blues currently sit a point behind Premier League leaders Manchester United in the table, while Liverpool reside in 12th place after 10 games.
