Hamburger SV sack Thorsten Fink

Hamburger SV dismiss Thorsten Fink after the side conceded 15 goals in five games in the Bundesliga this season.

Hamburger SV have sacked coach Thorsten Fink after a poor start to their Bundesliga campaign.

Fink has been relieved of his duties after winning just one of his first five games in the Bundesliga, with Hamburg's 6-2 capitulation against Borussia Dortmund last weekend proving to be the final straw.

Red Shorts sporting director Oliver Kreuzer has revealed that the decision was taken in a meeting on Monday night, with senior club officials deciding that Fink could not turn things around.

Kreuzer said: "In light of recent events and results we believe that this was an unavoidable step to take.

"We no longer held the belief that Thorsten Fink could turn things around and after intensive discussions we have acted in the club's best interests."

Reserve team coach Rodolfo Cardoso and Under-19 manager Otto Addo have taken charge on a temporary basis ahead of this weekend's home match against Werder Bremen.
