Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reportedly promised head coach Xavi that two new players will arrive at Camp Nou during the January transfer window.
The Catalan outfit are currently without a number of first-team players through injury, while Sergio Aguero announced his retirement on Wednesday, further depleting the team's options in attack.
Barcelona will need to move players on before they can make additions in January due to their financial problems, but according to Cadena Ser, Xavi has been promised that new signings will arrive.
The report claims that Laporta is planning to bring two players to Camp Nou, with Manchester City's Ferran Torres said to be a leading target for the Catalan giants.
Meanwhile, a new centre-forward is expected to arrive next month, with Manchester United's Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial both linked with switches to Camp Nou.
Barcelona, who failed to progress past the group stage of this season's Champions League, will be looking to return to winning ways in La Liga when they welcome Elche this weekend.
