Tomer Hemed, Dale Stephens goals give Brighton & Hove Albion win over Rotherham

Goals from Tomer Hemed and Dale Stephens help Brighton & Hove Albion to a 2-1 win over Rotherham United to maintain their unbeaten Championship run.

Goals from Tomer Hemed and Dale Stephens helped Brighton & Hove Albion to a 2-1 win over Rotherham United this evening to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Championship leaders Brighton were full of confidence from kickoff, as Beram Kayal headed wide from a corner early on before Jamie Murphy saw two efforts flash wide of the Rotherham goal.

Brighton's pressure paid off on 27 minutes, as Hemed scored his fifth goal of the season, connecting with a Murphy cross to give his side the lead.

Solly March came close to doubling Albion's lead before half time, as the young winger cut inside from the right before forcing a good save from Lee Camp.

After the break Rotherham missed a great opportunity to equalise as Danny Ward found Chris Maguire in the box, but the forward's effort flew over the bar.

The hosts made United pay for their miss on 67 minutes, as Stephens fired a low drive into the Rotherham goal.

Rotherham responded immediately though, as Jonson Clarke-Harris met a free kick from the left with a header.

Brighton could have made the victory comfortable before the final whistle, as Bruno had a 25-yard volley tipped over the bar by Camp, before the Rotherham goalkeeper smothered late efforts by Bobby Zamora and Kayal.
