Alvaro Arbeloa could miss Spain Euro 2012 opener

Alvaro Arbeloa misses Spain's first training session in Gdansk because of a back problem and could miss the world champions' Euro 2012 opener against Italy.

Alvaro Arbeloa could miss Spain's first game of their defence of the European Championship after missing training this morning.

Arbeloa, 29, is expected to feature in Poland and Ukraine after impressing with Real Madrid last season but missed the world champions' first training session in Gdansk because of a back problem.

If the former Liverpool right-back doesn't recover in time for Spain's opener against Italy on Sunday, Atletico Madrid's Juanfran could start on the right side of Spain's defence.
