Richmond Boakye brace sends Atalanta BC through

Two goals from Richmond Boakye send Atalanta through in the fourth round of the Coppa Italia against Avellino.

Atalanta BC booked their place in the fifth round of the Coppa Italia at the expense of Avellino this afternoon thanks to two unanswered goals from Richmond Boakye.

It took the Juventus loanee just 12 minutes to get the better of visiting goalkeeper Pierluigi Frattali.

Then, just seven minutes later, the 21-year-old controlled Lionel Scaloni's cross into the area, before he sent a low half-volley into the bottom corner of Frattali's net.

The hosts continued to dominate proceedings after the restart, but they were unable to breach the Serie B outfit's net for a third time.

Atalanta have not won the Coppa Italia since back in 1963.
