Lionel Messi admits that Bayern Munich were "stronger" than Barcelona and urges his teammates to recover quickly from their 4-0 away defeat.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has urged his side to bounce back from their defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Catalan giants lost the semi-final first-leg clash 4-0 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

"We need to pick ourselves up, try and finish things off in the league and then try and turn this tie around," he told UEFA.com.

"They were a lot stronger than us – physically superior in fact. It's a pity what happened but we have to go on.

"We have to lift ourselves for the second leg and the Liga. We will look to bounce back from this."

The second leg of the tie will be played at Camp Nou next week.
