Neil Warnock: 'It's nice to be the hunter'

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock says that it is "nice to be the hunter" after his side were replaced in the automatic promotion places by Fulham.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has said that it is "nice to be the hunter" after his side were replaced in the automatic promotion places by Fulham.

Cardiff lost 1-0 to Aston Villa on Tuesday night, a result which, coupled with the Cottagers' defeat of Reading, left Warnock's side a point outside the top two with five games to play.

Warnock, speaking to reporters after the game, put the onus on Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic to maintain his side's run ahead of the Championship run-in.

"I think it's nice to be the hunter rather than the hunted," the 69-year-old said. "I thought they might have scored more than one goal tonight, Fulham, so it just shows you.

"Things are going to happen between now and the end of the season. [Fulham] are a very good team, they talk a good game as well. So we've just got to concentrate on ourselves and it's different when you're out front.

"But the striker they got on loan (Aleksandar Mitrovic) has been the best signing in the whole league. That's what they've been missing for the past few years and all credit to them."

Cardiff face Norwich City in their next Championship outing on Saturday.
