Eden Hazard says that his cheeky penalty take was just "instinct" in Chelsea's 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard has said that "instinct" was responsible for his cheeky goal from the spot in his side's 3-1 home victory over Newcastle United this afternoon.

The Magpies took an unlikely lead inside the first quarter of an hour at Stamford Bridge courtesy of Dwight Gayle, but Hazard was on hand to restore parity just nine minutes later with his first of the afternoon.

Alvaro Morata soon had the Blues' noses in front as Antonio Conte's side began to dominate the contest, before the result was made certain in the final quarter-hour when the Belgian scored past Karl Darlow with a Panenka dink from the spot.

"When I take the ball in my hands, instinct. I just want to do this," Hazard told Sky Sports News afterwards. "I just want the goalkeeper to move, if he doesn't move, I'm in trouble. He moved, the ball is in the middle, It was a good penalty."

Hazard was subsequently withdrawn by Conte for the closing stages, denying him the chance to claim his first hat-trick of the campaign.

"It's not a problem for me," he added of his substitution. "We won the game; that's the most important thing. We play on Tuesday so a rest is sometimes good, when I score two I want to score a hat-trick but the other boys score, no problem."

Hazard now has eight goals in all competitions for the Blues this term.
