Ole Gunnar Solskjaer emerges as the surprise favourite to be appointed as manager of Aston Villa.

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emerged as the surprise favourite to be appointed as manager of Aston Villa.

The Midlands club are currently looking for a new coach after Alex McLeish was sacked on Monday.

Solskjaer, 39, guided Norwegian club Molde to their first ever league title last year.

He also spent two seasons coaching United's reserve side.
