David Mooney was on target twice as Leyton Orient defeated Northampton Town 3-0 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Area quarter-final this evening.
Northampton claimed the best chances of a goalless first half with Jake Robinson and Louis Moult coming close to breaking the deadlock early on.
Orient punished the hosts for their wastefulness in the 56th minute when Moses Odubajo and Ryan Brunt combined to gift Mooney with the opening goal.
Odubajo was involved again when the visitors doubled their advantage less than 10 minutes later, supplying a cross for Mooney to convert for his second of the night.
Orient capped off the victory from the penalty spot, with Michael Symes smashing home from 12 yards after Joe Widdowson handled in the area.
