Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti plays down reports that he recently contacted Jose Mourinho over a return to the club.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has played down reports that he was recently in contact with Jose Mourinho over a return to the club.

Mourinho won two Serie A titles and the Champions League during a two-year spell at the San Siro before his departure to Real Madrid in 2010.

However, Moratti admits that he has exchanged texts with the Portuguese coach, who is expected to leave Madrid in the summer.

"Mourinho loves this club and had great experiences with Inter, but these aren't the right conditions for any return," he is quoted as saying by Goal.com.

"There was no solid contact - I only sent him a text out of courtesy, not for projects with the job or anything like that."

Inter are currently in third place in the Serie A table.
