Tony Pulis confirms interest in Zenit St Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis confirms his interest in signing Zenit St Petersburg and Venezuela international striker Salomon Rondon.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has confirmed his interest in signing Zenit St Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon.

Reports on Friday suggested that a club-record £15m move for the Venezuela international is imminent, and Pulis has now said that the former Malaga frontman is one of a few on his transfer shortlist.

"There's [Rondon], there's a couple of Belgians we've had a look at and there's a French lad we're keen on," the Baggies manager is quoted as saying by ESPN. "We have tested the waters and seeing which one suits us and which ones we can do."

"We're not happy, I didn't say we're not good enough but we're not happy as a football club with what we've got at the moment. We're trying to get more in but they have to be good players.

"It's a difficult market out there and everything you do has to be in the best interests of the football club and that's very important. I only want to sign players I want at the club, they have to be good players. Anyone can sign a bunch of players but you want good players who will improve the squad."

West Brom begin their Premier League campaign against former champions Manchester City on Monday.
