Neil Warnock: 'No long-term plan for Cardiff City'

New Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock admits that he does not have a long-term plan for the club and will take things day by day in South Wales.

New Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has claimed that it is impossible to come up with a long-term plan for a team in the Championship.

The 67-year-old is now in charge of the 15th club of his managerial career, and he has already set his sights on winning a record eighth promotion despite Cardiff sitting 23rd in the table.

However, Warnock is refusing to look too far into the future and insists that he will take the job day by day.

"I don't think you can say anything is long term. I think you should only look to tomorrow. You should only look about building a club as far as you can," he told reporters.

"You go on the ride and hope you can take it where you want to go. In the Championship, if you start looking long term, I think it is all talk. You have got to be good enough to do the job.

"The chairman and I have spoken at great length. We have got to see where we go. When he told me I was his number one choice I said I would come. We hadn't even discussed contracts. That is how we are. We will play it by ear."

Warnock's first match in charge of the Bluebirds will come against Bristol City next Friday.
