Manuel Pellegrini: 'Vincent Kompany out for one or two weeks'

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini predicts that Vincent Kompany will be sidelined for up to a fortnight by a groin injury.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has declared that he expects Vincent Kompany to be out for a up to a fortnight with a groin injury.

Kompany was forced off with a groin problem during City's 4-0 win over Newcastle United last night, the latest in a long line of knocks for the City skipper.

Pellegrini says that the initial prognosis looks positive for the Belgian international, with a more precise estimate on the defender's recovery expected in the next 24 hours.

He told BBC Sport: "Kompany we will see how he is when the doctor sees him. I can't tell you exactly what happened, but it is not a serious injury and will possibly be one or two weeks."

City began life under Pellergini with a comfortable victory over Newcastle last night, thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri.
