Lee Sharpe: 'Louis van Gaal will transform Manchester United'

Louis van Gaal will turn around Manchester United's poor form in time, according to Lee Sharpe.

Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has backed Louis van Gaal to reverse the club's recent negative form.

The club finished seventh in the Premier League last term under David Moyes's management.

However, their fortunes have not improved so far with Van Gaal at the helm, having picked up just one point from a possible six, before being beaten 4-0 in the Capital One Cup by League One side MK Dons last night.

Sharpe believes that, in time, the Dutch boss will get things right at Old Trafford.

"He is the right man for the job. He is a strong character, he is not intimidated by big-name players, big signings, the size of the club and the task of the job at hand. I don't think he is intimated at all, I think he quite enjoys it," he told Sky Sports News.

"It is just going to take a bit of time to get the team he wants and get them to play the way he wants them to play and to produce the standards he sets. I don't think they are a million miles away. They have just not started as everybody thought they would do."

Next up for Van Gaal's side is a trip to Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
