Newcastle United have confirmed that Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul will undergo surgery on Monday after dislocating his shoulder last week.
The 25-year-old picked up the injury after landing awkwardly in the 3-0 defeat to Sunderland last Sunday, with Alan Pardew ruling out the stopper until the end of the season.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Tim Krul will undergo surgery on Monday after dislocating his shoulder in the Tyne-Wear derby last Sunday. The club expects him to return to training at the end of July."
The Magpies have also been hit with the news that Ryan Taylor will be out for the majority of next season with a cruciate knee injury.
