Half-Time Report: Cameron Jerome strike hands Norwich City lead

Cameron Jerome gives Norwich City the lead against Bournemouth at half time at Carrow Road.

Cameron Jerome's first goal of the season has given Norwich City a 1-0 lead over Bournemouth at half time in the clash between the two promoted sides at Carrow Road.

Both sides started slowly but it was the hosts who had the first chance of the half when Robbie Brady's cross was cleared only to the edge of the penalty area and Alexander Tettey sent a powerful volley over the crossbar.

Norwich dominated possession throughout the majority of the half but could not find a way through despite the efforts of debutant Matt Jarvis and the rest of the Canaries midfield.

Bournemouth carved out their first real opportunity on the half-hour mark when a neat passing move ended with Josh King dinking a ball over the top for Junior Stanislas to run on to, but a last-ditch tackle from Brady prevented the winger from pulling the trigger.

Jerome had a good opportunity just minutes later after he was slipped in by Wes Hoolahan, but the former Stoke City striker's effort hit only the side-netting, despite the mistaken cheers of the home fans.

Jerome made amends four minutes later, however, thanks to more incisive play from Hoolahan when the midfielder beat his man down the right to break into the box and slide in Jerome to tap home the opener.

Bournemouth came within inches of an equaliser in first-half injury time when Callum Wilson flicked Tommy Elphick's header onto the post, but Norwich held out to ensure that they led at the break.
