Jordan Hugill extends Preston North End stay

Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill says that he is "absolutely buzzing" to have earned himself a new deal at Deepdale.

Jordan Hugill has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract at Preston North End.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Lilywhites from Port Vale in June 2014, has yet to start a league game for the club.

Injury problems and back-to-back loan spells at Tranmere Rovers and Hartlepool United earlier this year have contributed to Hugill's restricted playing time, but he has two goals to his name so far this season.

Having been rewarded with a new deal, which will keep him in place at Deepdale until the summer of 2018, the striker admitted that he was "absolutely buzzing".

"I'm absolutely buzzing to get a new contract and I can get my head down now for the next few years and see where I go from there," he told North End's official website.

"This is a big boost confidence wise, there's nothing more you want as a footballer than to know you're secure for the next two and half years. I can just concentrate on my game now and try and repay the faith the manager has shown in me.

"Coming from non-League, and coming through late, you can only appreciate what you've got. This is unbelievable for me considering where I was three years ago, to now sign a new deal here is unbelievable."

Hugill has made six appearances for Preston in all competitions so far this season.
