Swansea City brush aside Crystal Palace

Michu and Nathan Dyer score either side of half time in Swansea City's 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Michu and Nathan Dyer scored either side of half time to hand Swansea City a 2-0 victory away at Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The Spanish forward took just two minutes to put his side ahead, as he fired a low shot into the net after good work by Jonjo Shelvey.

The visitors almost doubled their lead a couple of minutes later, but the Selhurst Park faithful blew a sigh of relief as Chico Flores's shot came back off the post.

Michu should have got his second goal of the game in the 26th minute, but he tried to square the ball to Alvaro Vazquez and the chance was lost.

As half time approached, Angel Rangel's rasping volley was tipped over acrobatically by Julian Speroni as Swansea continued to dominate proceedings.

The Swans started the second half as they had begun the first, and Dyer made it 2-0 when he tapped home after Speroni had saved Vazquez's initial shot.

Michu and Vazquez showed good link-up play throughout the afternoon, and the latter should have made it 3-0 when played in by his strike partner; however, he ballooned his effort over the bar.

Palace's first real chance fell to Dwight Gayle, who went close with a shot from the edge of the box, but the chances continued to come for Swansea.

It was Michu's turn to bury his head in his hands in the 87th minute when the Spaniard miscontrolled the ball when on one-on-one.

In stoppage time, Jose Campana fired just over the bar as Palace searched in vain for a goal.
