West Ham United have announced the arrival of Portugal international Joao Mario on loan from Inter Milan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old, capped 31 times by the Euro 2016 winners, is eligible to make his debut in this weekend's FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic.
Mario arrived in London earlier this week to undergo a medical after supposedly informing his agent to push through a move, having initially rejected the notion of joining the Hammers.
Speaking to his new club's official website, the attacking midfielder said: "I am really happy to be here. It's a really amazing experience to join this amazing team and I am just glad to be here.
"It was a fast move. I have spoken with everyone around the team and, for me, it is exciting to play in the Premier League. I spoke with the coach and for me, I am really happy to be training for an amazing coach, also."
Mario, given the number 18 shirt at the London Stadium, will reportedly set United back around £1.5m to loan for the season.
West Ham are said to have the option to make that agreement permanent in the summer for a further £26m, with the 25-year-old deemed surplus to requirements at San Siro.
