Bayern Munich chairman opens door to Philippe Coutinho stay

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge suggests that Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho could spend a second loan spell at the Allianz Arena.

Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has hinted that Bayern Munich are open to a second loan deal for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

Despite the Brazilian enjoying a productive campaign at the Allianz Arena, Bayern will not be signing the playmaker on a permanent basis.

However, while acknowledging Bayern's stance regarding a full-time transfer, Rummenigge has left the door open for Coutinho to return next season.

Speaking to Der Speigel, Rummenigge said: "The option expired and we haven't activated it.

"We're going to plan our squad for next season and we'll see if he still has a role to play with us or not."

Barcelona would prefer to cash in on the 27-year-old, who has contributed nine goals and eight assists in Germany's top flight and the Champions League this season.
