Colombia's Juan Zuniga could be punished for the challenge that has ended Neymar's participation at the World Cup.
In the second half of his side's 2-1 quarter-final exit at the hands of hosts Brazil last night, Zuniga clattered into the back of the Brazilian striker.
He was stretchered from the field of play and subsequent scans have revealed that the Barcelona attacker has fractured one of the vertebrae in his back, which will rule him out of action for at least six weeks.
The foul went unpunished by the match referee, but FIFA has now confirmed that it will analyse the incident.
"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee is analysing all the elements provided, the videos and the match reports and will decide whether or not to take action," said a spokeswoman from the governing body.
As well as Neymar, Brazil will also be without Thiago Silva for next week's semi-final against Germany because of suspension.
