Fulham owner Shahid Khan has insisted that Felix Magath is the "ideal" man to lead Fulham back to the Premier League, despite a disastrous start to the season.
The Cottagers, back in the Championship for the first time since 2000-01, have lost their first four games and sit rockbottom in the table.
Khan is certain that Magath, 61, whose record since taking over in February is three wins from 16 games, is the right man for the job.
"We chose Felix as we wanted somebody with experience of dealing with the threat of relegation," Khan told the Evening Standard.
"Even then, we knew we might not be successful and if, God forbid, the worst happened how would we deal with it.
"We knew the Championship was more physical. You've got to have a Plan A (to avoid relegation) and a Plan B (for promotion). Felix was the ideal person to execute both plans."
Fulham face nearby West London side Brentford in the second round of the Capital One Cup tonight before their next chance at league points at home to fellow relegated side Cardiff City on Saturday.
