Adam Lallana will reportedly not have his three-match ban extended to the first team following his red-card offence for the Liverpool Under-23s.

Adam Lallana will reportedly avoid a first-team ban following his sending-off for the Liverpool Under-23s on Monday evening.

The England international was given a straight red card for grabbing the throat of Tottenham Hotspur Under-23s player George Marsh.

The midfielder, who missed the first four months of the season due to injury, reacted angrily to an aerial challenge from his opponent, and had to be held back by teammate Danny Ings.

Lallana will now serve a three-match suspension, but according to the Liverpool Echo, the ban only affects U23 matches and not the first team.

The 29-year-old has made just seven appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp's team this season.
