Rafael "very excited" to work with Louis van Gaal

Manchester United defender Rafael says that he cannot wait to work with new boss Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United defender Rafael has revealed that he is "very excited" to work with new boss Louis van Gaal this season.

The Brazilian was part of the 25-man squad that travelled to the US on Friday ahead of friendlies against LA Galaxy, Roma, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

He told MUTV: "I'm very excited, Everyone's excited to see how he'll be both during games and away from it.

"It's clear [from watching Van Gaal in charge of Netherlands at the World Cup] that he likes to play with intelligent players. These types of players can change games and often shift from one formation to another. He seems very good at [doing] that.

"Some of his staff have been here from quite early on so we have an idea of his methods but we are all looking forward to finding out more from him."

Van Gaal held his first press conference as United boss last Thursday.
