Asmir Begovic: 'Chelsea need time to improve under Antonio Conte'

Asmir Begovic insists that Chelsea's players will need time to adapt to Antonio Conte's methods, but says that life under their new manager has been "great so far".

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has claimed that he and his teammates are already feeling the benefits of Antonio Conte's arrival, but says that it will take time for the club to return to their best.

The former Juventus and Italy manager took charge of training for the first time last week since being announced as the Blues' new manager in April.

Conte's commitments with the Azzurri meant that he had to delay his arrival to Stamford Bridge but, having now got his players into the swing of things with double sessions, Begovic believes that the new "process" at Chelsea is fully underway.

"It's been great so far," the Evening Standard quotes him as saying. "We're buying into what the manager wants us to do, we're working hard to try and improve and work in a different way.

"It's going to take a bit of time, it's a process, but so far so good and over time we'll get better. A few things have changed. It's just something we're trying to buy into and it's going to take a little bit of time."

Begovic played the full 90 minutes for Chelsea as they fell to a 2-0 defeat in their opening pre-season fixture against Rapid Vienna on Saturday evening.
