Alvaro Negredo "heard nothing" from Real Madrid

Alvaro Negredo claims that there was no interest from Real Madrid prior to his loan move from Manchester City to Valencia.

Alvaro Negredo has claimed that he did not learn of any interest from Real Madrid before completing a loan move to Valencia on transfer deadline day.

Manchester City were happy to allow the Spaniard to depart the Etihad Stadium, but Negredo insists that there was never a chance of signing for the Champions League winners at any stage during the summer window.

"I heard nothing about Madrid. Valencia was the most favourable offer and the one I wanted," the 29-year-old told reporters.

"There was a lot of uncertainty and plenty of nerves throughout the day, but I have a very professional group of people beside me."

Valencia are believed to have an agreement in place to sign Negredo permanently next summer.
