Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton insists that Jose Mourinho would need to be less outspoken if he were to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager.

Sir Bobby Charlton has revealed that he is unsure whether Jose Mourinho has the credentials to become manager of Manchester United.

The Real Madrid boss has been touted as a candidate for Sir Alex Ferguson's replacement as Manchester United manager, but former United striker Charlton has not been impressed with Mourinho's criticism of opposition managers.

Charlton told The Guardian: "A United manager wouldn't do that. Mourinho is a really good coach but that's as far as I would go really.

"He's the manager of Real Madrid and we expect to play them in the Champions League by the end of the season.

"He pontificates too much for my liking. He's a good manager, though."

Recent reports have indicated that Mourinho will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season.
