Ronald Koeman: 'Emmanuel Mayuka has no future at Southampton'

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman confirms that striker Emmanuel Mayuka has "no future" at the club as he nears a switch to Spartak Moscow.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed that striker Emmanuel Mayuka has "no future" at the club.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Spartak Moscow this summer, having failed to establish himself at St Mary's since his £3m switch from Young Boys in 2012.

Reports have suggested that his transfer to Russia is on the verge of being completed, and Koeman has now confirmed that he will be leaving the club this summer.

"We have a lot of young people coming into the squad and we have enough strikers and for Mayuka there is no future in the club. There is some contact with [head of football development] Les Reed about Mayuka," Koeman told reporters.

The Zambian international failed to find the back of the net in any of his 16 league appearances for the Saints.
