Arsene Wenger: 'Arsenal have no leaders'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that his troops have leadership issues.

Arsene Wenger has conceded that his Arsenal team are lacking leadership and has encouraged his defenders to communicate on the field.

Questions over the Gunners' defence have arisen again after Wenger's side conceded a 97th-minute equaliser in Sunday's 2-2 draw at 10-man Liverpool.

Images have surfaced of the moment Martin Skrtel netted the late equaliser, with a number of Arsenal players appearing to cower away from the header - most notably stand-in captain Per Mertesacker.

"They should be talking, yes. Maybe they do talk but it doesn't look like that when you look at the pictures. Of course it's important to have someone organising," he told The Mirror.

"Sometimes it's just one yard forward or backward that makes a difference. You want somebody to take the leadership there."

The North Londoners host Queens Park Rangers on Friday.
