Paul Lambert 'not worried' about Aston Villa future

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert acknowledges that his side must start 'giving something back to supporters' following an eighth league game without a win this afternoon.

Paul Lambert has insisted that speculation mounting over his future as Aston Villa boss does not concern him following this afternoon's heavy defeat at Arsenal.

The Villans' woeful form continued at the Emirates Stadium with a crushing 5-0 reverse, which sees their winless run stretch into an eighth league game.

It has now also been over 10 hours of play since Villa last registered a goal in the top flight, although under-pressure Lambert reiterated his belief that he is the right man to turn around his side's current plight.

"I don't worry [about pressure]. What happens happens," he is quoted as saying by talkSPORT. "It's a brilliant football club with a great set of supporters and we've got to give them something back really quickly because they need it.

"We started the second half really well but the second goal was the most disappointing thing about today. What has annoyed me probably the most is the acceptance to then lose by a few more. I'm used to winning games; that is the way my football and managerial career has panned out."

Today's defeat leaves the West Midlands outfit sitting just three points above the drop zone.
