Ashley Westwood proud of Aston Villa display

Ashley Westwood believes that he and his Aston Villa teammates can be proud of their collective display during Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has insisted that he and his teammates can be proud of their performance during Saturday's defeat to Manchester City.

The Villans fought valiantly against the Premier League champions at Villa Park, but late goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero saw the Blues claim a 2-0 win.

"We can be really proud of the way we approached the game," Westwood told the club's official website. "I thought we were brilliant up until when they scored. We gave them a right good game. I think we frightened them at times.

"I thought Yaya Toure was quiet all game and then he popped up with the goal. That's why they pay millions of pounds for these players, but we competed well with them."

Saturday's loss saw Villa slip down to 10th place in the table.
