John Arne Riise "seriously impressed" by Joe Gomez

Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise admits that Joe Gomez has "seriously impressed" him this season.

John Arne Riise has admitted that he has been "seriously impressed" by Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

The summer signing from Charlton Athletic, 18, has started all three of the team's Premier League games this season.

The Reds continued their unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign on Monday with a 0-0 draw away to Arsenal.

"I'm very, very impressed by Joe Gomez," Riise told Sky Sports News. "I am seriously impressed. I must admit did not know too much about him before he came to the club but he's started every game for Liverpool this season.

"You can see that defensively he's very strong and that he is also very quick. I'm really excited for him and I hope he can keep his form going for himself and for Liverpool."

Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they welcome West Ham United to Anfield.
