Semi-professional Scottish club Whitehill Welfare are reportedly hopeful that they can convince Benni McCarthy to come out of retirement.
The 36-year-old, who called time on his career last year, featured and scored for Whitehill during their pre-season friendly fixture against Hamilton Academical at the weekend.
He was not included in the match with Berwick Rangers last night, but the East of Scotland Premier League outfit believe that a deal can be struck to sign the South African striker, according to Edinburgh News.
McCarthy played for a host of clubs throughout his career, including Ajax, Porto and Blackburn Rovers.
