Montpellier manager Rene Girard wants the home fans to create a hostile atmosphere for the visit of Arsenal in the Champions League.

Manager Rene Girard has urged the Montpellier fans to make Arsenal 'feel like hell' in their Champions League group-stage clash tomorrow night.

The Gunners begin their European campaign with a trip to France to take on the Ligue 1 champions, who have won just one of their opening five domestic games this season.

Despite never having competed in the Champions League before, Girard believes that his side can prove stern opposition for Arsenal, and is hoping that a hostile home crowd can help attain a positive result.

"It's a huge thing to be among the best 32 European teams. I know that everyone is wondering how we'll avoid getting beaten tomorrow, but I'm sure that we'll show up," he said.

"The one conviction I have is that we'll have 30,000 supporters and not 30,000 spectators, which will be very important.

"We've had some great moments over the last three years but this season we've had some bad moments, and we need the fans to help us turn the stadium into hell for Arsenal."

The two sides are joined by Olympiakos and Schalke 04 in Group B of Europe's elite competition.
