Augsburg 0-0 Wolfsburg

Augsburg hang on to draw 0-0 with Wolfsburg despite the away side's dominance.

Augsburg have picked up their first point of the season despite being on the back foot for much of their Bundesliga encounter against Wolfsburg.

The home side started well, with Aristide Bance seeing two early efforts blocked in the penalty area.

The first real chance of the game went to Wolfsburg though. Vieirinha found Diego with a good pass but the Brazlian's shot was tipped over by the goalkeeper.

Vieirinha himself had a chance not long after. The winger collected the ball from a corner but his shot was high and wide.

Wolfsburg continued to push forward but could not find a goal before half-time.

Augsburg again started well after the break. Daniel Baier twice found good deliveries into the box but on both occasions the Wolfsburg defence held firm.

The game then continued in the same pattern as the first half, with Wolfsburg dominating.

Their pressure could have resulted in a goal after 72 minutes.

A good move involving Ivica Olic and Diego allowed Thomas Kahlenberg a free header inside the six-yard area, but somehow the Augsburg goalkeeper kept it out.

Two minutes later Olic found space himself, cutting in from the right, but could only manage a tame shot straight at Mohamed Amsif.

The away side continued to pressure the Augsburg goal, but the home defence continued to put their bodies on the line, blocking several efforts in quick succession and their efforts were finally rewarded with the final whistle.
