John Brown leaves Dundee by mutual consent

Dundee confirm that John Brown has left his role as manager by mutual consent.

Dundee have confirmed that John Brown has left his position as manager by mutual consent.

The Dees, who are in second place in the Scottish Championship table, extended their winless run to three games on the weekend with a 1-1 draw against Alloa Athletic.

Brown took charge of the side in February 2013, but could not stop them from getting relegated from the Scottish Premiership.

"The Board of Directors would like to put on record their thanks not only for his valiant efforts in attempting to keep us in the Premier League last season when no one gave us a chance, but also for his hard work and diligence in achieving the current points total which sees the club joint-top of the league with 14 games of the season to go," read an official statement.

The club claims that it will "move quickly" to appoint Brown's successor.
