Jamie Carragher: 'Liverpool's attack could be the difference in Merseyside derby'

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that his former side's attacking options could be the difference in the Merseyside derby.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that the attacking wealth available to Brendan Rodgers's side could be the difference in this evening's Merseyside derby.

The Reds travel to Everton having tasted defeat just once in their last 13 games, and with Daniel Sturridge returning from injury in last week's 2-0 win over West Ham United, Carragher has backed his former side for victory at Goodison Park.

The ex-defender told the Liverpool Echo: "Everton have had problems with conceding goals this season. And when you look at the attacking talent Liverpool have now, they look very threatening.

"Brendan Rodgers has options. Whether he starts with Sturridge or Raheem Sterling up front, then he has the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and Steven Gerrard as well. Sturridge coming back is a massive lift.

"Liverpool's creativity is back and Sturridge should provide that finishing touch because that's the only thing that's been lacking."

Saturday's game is the 224th meeting between the two local rivals.
