Tottenham Hotspur defender Ledley King has said that speculation linking Harry Redknapp to the England job did not affect the club this season.
Spurs, who were at one point in contention for the Premier League title, had almost slipped out of the top four after a run of defeats during the second half of the season. However, King insists that it had nothing to do with Redknapp.
"I just think the Premier League is a tough league," he told London24.
"We went on a run of losing games, but we could have won them. We could have got points out of those games but at that moment in time things were going against us.
"It seemed like we were winning again once it was settled with the England manager situation, but it's a coincidence. I just think it was one of those things."
King made over 20 appearances for Tottenham last season for the first time since 2008-09.
