Isaac Cuenca: 'Lionel Messi does not have too much power'

Lionel Messi does not have too much power at Barcelona, insists the Argentine's former teammate Isaac Cuenca.

Former Barcelona midfielder Isaac Cuenca has denied claims that Lionel Messi has too much power at Camp Nou.

It has been suggested that the Argentine controls the dressing room at the Catalan outfit and has previously overseen the departures of certain individuals.

However, Cuenca, who spent five years with Messi at Barca, has insisted that the attacker is just one of many voices.

"Messi had a voice in the dressing room like any other player, such as [Andres] Iniesta, Xavi [Hernandez], [Victor] Valdes or [Carles] Puyol," Cuenca told Marca.

"Of course, he was one of those you had to listen to and learn from, but as for signings and tactics he was just dedicated to playing, which is what he does best.

"He's quiet and just gets on with the game, like anybody else, and is not someone who speaks more than others. He's just one more player."

Cuenca departed Barca last summer to join Deportivo La Coruna.
